The PINC & STEEL Cancer Rehabilitation Program is dedicated to providing support to individuals diagnosed with cancer with a focus on improving quality of life and well being. It is designed to help maximise recovery, regain physical strength and improve body confidence.
Cancer Rehabilitation covers many aspects of care and support through all phases following a cancer diagnosis.
Nicole has been an accredited PINC(womans) & STEEL(mens)
physiotherapist since 2011.
The PINC & STEEL Program is formatted into different phases. Timing of each phase is dependent upon your physical condition, the length of the healing process, the type of surgery involved, and the course of adjuvant
treatment required.
Nicole is dedicated to ongoing professional development and learning to ensure a high standard of care is provided in this specialised area of physiotherapy.
Designed to prepare you for your upcoming cancer
surgery
Designed to assist in the healing process of clients
who are recently post surgery or undergoing treatments. The aim is to restore movement, strength and flexibility to particular joints and muscle groups that have affected with surgery. This phase often involves more individualised manual therapy.
Designed to help improve energy levels and general
well being during cancer treatments. It aims to help clients manage fatigue, decrease side effects of treatment and restore post op flexibility and strength during adjuvant treatment such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy and immunotherapy treatment.
Designed to facilitate overall conditioning. The aim in this phase is to optimise function, improve cardiovascular fitness, strength and flexibility once active treatment has finished . Group classes are available to participate in during this phase to optimise function and restore strength.
Nicole is accredited in both the Next Steps Group exercise classes and PaddleOn Stand Up Paddle Board rehabilitation which are available for people to participate in during the fitness phase .
There is evidence to indicate significant benefits of
treatment during palliative care . Focus is on maintaining independence with activities of daily living, maintaining strength and wellbeing .
Nicole will work with you to create a rehabilitation program to suit your
stage of recovery. The sessions can include; manual physiotherapy,
graduated resistance training, individualised clinical pilates, fatigue
management and exercise prescription.
